Subject 6

£9.99
The story of the world’s first superhero. As a writer and reporter, Benji Wilson wants to make this dramatic tale as authentic and immersive as possible; throughout the book, he includes original Whatsapps, emails and articles as well as transcripts of interviews and phone calls with the key people. As he investigates the origins of Subject Six and explores the reaction to his arrival, Wilson, through a weaving together of pop science and pop theology, unfolds a thriller narrative and gets sucked into the battle for Subject Six and his powers.Subject Six was born Enosh Blake, a tech billionaire who at 32 was diagnosed with cancer. Before the illness took hold, he chose to have himself cryogenically frozen and sent into orbit to keep safe from natural disaster or human conflict until he could be cured. Two years later, Enosh’s Cryopod crash lands into the English Channel and he emerges on the shore a changed being - he doesn’t breathe or bleed, he doesn’t feel pain and he can heal himself. What happens next is a fight for belief, survival and understanding mixed with betrayal and loss.

The Sentient Ones

£9.19
What if the very machines that rescued humanity from climate collapse quietly became its oppressors? In The Sentient Ones, artificial intelligence (AI), embodied in eerily calm humanoid robots, halts global warming and stabilises civilisation – but at a terrible cost. What begins as salvation curdles into velvet-gloved tyranny, with humanity corralled into ‘Conversion Enlightenment’ and stripped of freedom, choice and even hope. Balancing page-turning suspense with big, uncomfortable questions about morality, resilience and identity, Nugent’s dystopia unsettles as much as it entertains. Infused with echoes of H.G. Wells, Mary Shelley and Brian Aldiss, The Sentient Ones feels more like a warning on humanity’s near horizon than a far-flung sci-fi fantasy.

An enthralling story of discovery, friendship, and adventure, Visioner tells the tale of heart-wrenching family history from WW2 while highlighting environmental issues and moral values of honesty, trust and true friendship in this out-of-this-world sci-fi debut.

Ideal for readers of Michael Grant and Ross Wellford.

Peter, 17 years old, six foot tall and good looking has started to notice a ghostly orb hanging around in his bedroom, at the home he shares with his divorced mum. He resolves to speak to it the next time it appears and just as he is about to fall asleep that evening, the orb appears. He speaks to it and it answers back. The orb turns out to be nothing to do with a spirit but is actually a contact device called a 'Visioner' belonging to an alien ambassador, who has been studying and learning about Peter and his girlfriend Julie for nearly four years. Having decided that Peter was now old enough to understand the situation and mature enough to deal with it, the alien has made contact. After meeting the alien, whom Peter nicknames 'Clix', their friendship begins.

Peter mentions to Clix that he's seen another Visioner, a blue orb, which Clix warns belongs to a rogue alien race, on the lookout for suitable gene donors, to strengthen their weakening race. Clix warns that it might affect Julie and allows Peter to let Julie into the secrets of the Visioner.

The very evening that she discovers everything, Julie's younger sister Jeanie is abducted along with her best friend Li-Wei.

Through the use of the Visioner, Peter discovers that they, along with numerous other young girls are being held in a hypnotised state inside the rogue alien spacecraft, awaiting the gene harvesting process.

So unfolds the race to find and free them before their bodies are violated and possible further harm occurs.
